Coloured PET flakes DS
Coloured PET flakes

Coloured PET flakes, DS non-food grade. Source: PET bottles from household collection (‘yellow bag’)

The PET Flake bunt DS is produced from post-consumer PET bottles collected via the household recycling scheme (yellow bag). Following a thorough pre-sorting process, during which all contaminants and foreign plastics are removed, the flakes are crushed, hot-washed and then dried. Through these individual process steps, we ultimately obtain a clean and single-grade end product with a particle size of >10 mm, a bulk density of 250 kg/m³ and a residual moisture content of no more than 1 per cent. Its main applications include the production of strapping bands and fibres.

Processing procedure and technical specifications

Coloured DS PET flakes are produced from post-consumer single-use PET bottles collected from household waste (yellow bag, etc.).

  • Colour: Assorted
  • Bulk density: ≥ 250 kg/m³
  • Particle size: > 10 mm, max. 5 %

In our processing operation, the pre-sorted PET bottles from household collection are first sorted and any foreign and contaminating materials are removed. The sorted PET bottles are then crushed into flakes and processed into clean, coloured flakes via a hot wash followed by drying. In accordance with legal requirements, areas of application include PET bottles for, for example, detergents, cleaning agents and washing-up liquids (WPR). Other areas of application include the film, fibre/textile and packaging tape industries.
