Coloured PET flakes from drinks bottles
Post-consumer PET bottles from the retail deposit-return system are used to produce coloured PET flakes. The processing involves sorting the bottles to remove contaminants, crushing them, hot-washing them and then drying the clean flakes. The flakes have a particle size of >10 mm, a bulk density of 250 kg/m³ and a residual moisture content of no more than 1 per cent. In addition to various forms of packaging, this raw material is traditionally used in the production of PET strapping.
