Company

Brief profile

Texplast GmbH grew out of a former division of the ORWO (Original Wolfen) film factory. In what was then the film washing plant, old film waste was processed using a special chemical procedure. This enabled rare raw materials such as silver and polyester plastics to be recovered and subsequently reintroduced into film production.

Since its re-establishment in 1992, the company has developed into a leading recycling specialist, particularly for PET plastics. Texplast GmbH is synonymous with high-quality products. Our extensive and well-established expertise has enabled us to meet our customers’ high standards for more than 30 years.

Today, around 130 employees work for Texplast GmbH, and approximately 62,000 tonnes of bottles are processed each year. This yields approximately 37,000 tonnes of PET flakes, the majority of which are used in the manufacture of PET packaging tape, PET films and PET fibres for the textile industry.

Some of these PET flakes are used directly in the regranulation process at Wolfen. Using the VACUREMA process employed here, up to 22,000 tonnes of food-grade regranulate can be produced annually, which complies with the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 282/2008 and is therefore suitable for direct food contact.

Texplast GmbH is a company within the ALPLA Group, headquartered in Hard (Austria). ALPLA is a global company that develops, manufactures and recycles plastic packaging. It employs approximately 24,350 people in 46 countries.
