Company profile

Texplast GmbH evolved from an earlier business called ORWO (ORiginal WOlfen), a producer of film. The facility that was formerly on the site washed film that used a special chemical process to process film waste. Rare raw materials such as silver and polyester plastics were recovered here and then used again for film production.

Since the company was re-established in 1992 it has become a leading recycling specialist but particularly for PET plastics. Texplast GmbH stands for the high quality of its products. As a company we can call on a pool of expertise, which has allowed us to establish a track record of satisfying our customers' demanding standards for over 25 years.

Today Texplast GmbH has around a hundred employees and approximately 54,000 tonnes of bottles are processed every year. This produces about 37,000 tonnes of PET flakes, which are mainly used to produce PET strapping for packaging, PET films and PET fibres for the textile industry.

Part of these PET flakes are used directly at the facility in Wolfen for the regranulation process. Up to 12,000 tonnes of food-safe regranulate a year can be produced using the VACUREMA process at the site and this satisfies the requirements of the regulation (EC) No. 282/2008, making it suitable for direct contact with foodstuffs.

Texplast GmbH is a subsidiary of the packaging producer FROMM Plastics GmbH in Kölleda (in the federal state of Thuringia). We are part of the FROMM Group, which for many decades now has been a leading manufacturer in the market for packaging systems to secure goods during transport, both in the steel and plastic strapping segment and for Airpad and air-cushion packaging.
